This is an Orangethroat Darter ethiastoma spectable. I found him in a small creek in south central Nebraska near Guide rock.

Plains Topminnow fundulus Sciadicus This guy came From the Platte river. In my experience topminnows are not common in the central Platte. But isn’t he gorgeous?

These two guys on the other hand are among the most common fish in the Platte. The Red Shiner Cyprinella Lutrenses (top) and Plains Killifish Fundulus Zebrinus.

This is just a shot of my aquarium. Some Red Shiners and some sun fish. I haven’t determined the species of the sun fish yet. I’m thinking pumpkin seed?
